Chad with his Uncle Trevor, who baptized him!
The Hammond/ Briney gang! Everyone was here...it was great! I have never met an 8 year old as eager to be baptized as Chad. He is such a righteous example to all of us. We are so proud of him...GO CHAD!! :)

Inspiring "Last Lecture" professor dies...

By RAMIT PLUSHNICK-MASTI, Associated Press Writer Fri Jul 25, 12:03 PM ET

PITTSBURGH - Randy Pausch, the Carnegie Mellon University computer scientist whose "last lecture" about facing terminal cancer became an Internet sensation and a best-selling book, died Friday. He was 47.

Pausch was diagnosed with incurable pancreatic cancer in September 2006. His popular last lecture at Carnegie Mellon in September 2007 garnered international attention and was viewed by millions on the Internet.
In it, Pausch celebrated living the life he had always dreamed of instead of concentrating on impending death.
"The lecture was for my kids, but if others are finding value in it, that is wonderful," Pausch wrote on his Web site. "But rest assured; I'm hardly unique."
"We don't beat the reaper by living longer, we beat the reaper by living well and living fully," he said.

He was an inspiring man, and a definite inspiration to me. I wrote down a few of the things he said in his lecture when he was on the Oprah show.

- “Have fun all the time!”
- “Allow children individual creativity.”
- “Live a little…things are just things!”
- “Be a TIGGER, not an Eeyore….Tiggers are optimistic and enthusiastic; Eeoyores wallow in self pity!”
- “Tell the TRUTH!”
- “When you screw up, say “I’m sorry,” and ask how you can make it right!”
- “Show gratitude!”
- “Don’t complain - just work harder!!!”
- “If you lead your life in the right way…good things will come to you.”
- “The biggest regrets we have are the things we don’t do!”
- “Combine hope and realism to find the reality of hope!”

"We don't beat the reaper by living longer, we beat the reaper by living well and living fully."

He is a true example of someone who practiced what he preached. Thank you Randy for leaving us these great and inspiring words of wisdom!

COLDPLAY CONCERT!

Yay, I finally got to see Coldplay live in concert!! This concert was amazing -- I loved every minute of it! They are seriously one of the most incredible live bands I have ever seen perform! Chris Martin is an absolute musical genius, and I now understand why Gwyneth Paltrow fell in love with him! I danced and sang the through the whole concert, and I could have listened for hours if they would have played that long. At one point, I was dancing so hard that Tyler said to me, "honey, watch your arms, you almost hit me in the face!" I swear, I couldn't sit still, their music just moves me -- emotionally and physically! :) If you haven't seen them live, it is definitely worth the money! I thought nobody could top my U2 concert experience, but Coldplay gave them a run for their money!
Anyway, go figure, my camera just stopped working yesterday! I was checking my batteries, and all of the sudden it just froze up -- piece of crap!! Anyway, my sister in-laws took pics, so I will post them when I get them. I just had to blog about how amazing my experience was! COLDPLAY ROCKS!!!

Madison's FIRST HAIRCUT!!!

So, this was the end result! We didn't end up taking much off...just a trim!
She had this stone face the whole way through!

The lady kept trying to make her smile, but she would just look at her like this! :)

Walking in mom's high heels

She did pretty well in my 4 inch heels!! She just helped herself while she was in my closet!! :)

WHY...

The new question of the week is "why," and I am in serious trouble!! I knew the day would come when Madison would ask me "why" all the time, but I didn't realize it would come so soon.
Today, I put Madison in time out for throwing a tantrum. When she was done, I gave her a hug and told her she needed to be a good girl... she looked at me and said, "WHY?" She was so sincere with her question I almost started to laugh. I gave her a reason and then thought to myself, "OH CRAP," we have entered a new phase!!! :)
